Elise now has therapy every day.
Before going to therapy today, Elise had a rough morning. She threw her usual temper tantrum at breakfast because she can't communicate to me what she wants. We're using a picture system, but she doesn't understand the concept yet. She does make some choices but if I get 2 things out she doesn't want, she runs away screaming and I've pretty much blown her breakfast time.
This morning she ran away screaming uncontrollably and bit me as I was putting her in her crib. The rest of the morning wasn't much better.
When we got to her gymnastics class, she did so good there. She didn't have one meltdown. We've been going there for 3 months and every week she has had at least one meltdown, so I could see her progress.
She has tactile defensiveness and use to not touch anything there or she would have a meltdown. Today however she touched everything they were doing. The OT pointed out that Elise seemed a lot more regulated today.
After gymnastics we went to the grocery store, she took a nap, then ate great at dinner. She sat in her booster the entire mealtime without screaming! (Haha as I'm writing this I guess I've just gotten use to how much she cries that writing it down makes it seem like she does cry a lot :) She ate good then let me wash her up also without screaming. She ran off without crying, then PLAYED with a NEW toy! Love therapy! I'm one happy mamma :)
I LOVE being a mom to my 5 kids; one with special needs. There is no greater joy than being a parent! I love each one individually but this blog will mostly focus on our daughter with special needs and our journey with her. Thanks for reading!
