American Medical Response (AMR)

  • What is it?

AMR reimburses gas mileage anywhere you drive to and from for Medicaid appointments.

This includes therapy appointments (Speech, OT, PT), doctor visits, hospital visits, and possibly if you need to travel for appointments ie: Primary Children's Hospital, etc.

  • How do I get it?

Once you qualify for Medicaid (Katie Beckett-it's all the same) then you qualify for AMR.

Call 1-877-503-1261 to set up your appointment I believe 48 hours in advance. You tell them what the appointment is for (Speech, doctor, OT), then give them the address you're going to, your home address, what time the appointment is for and the date. If this is a repeated appointment (weekly, every other week) you can schedule out 3 months worth of visits with just one phone call. Then when the 3 months have passed, call again to reschedule for another 3 months.

Your reimbursement will come as a check in the mail. You don't have to keep track of your miles or worry about anything else.

If you are traveling for your appointment you can also get lodging and food paid for as well. They can set you up with a Ronald McDonald House or a discount on a hotel. They will also pay for you and your child's food up to a certain amount. The amount of the meals have to be discussed with an AMR representative so that will need to be discussed with them.

Mileage reimbursement.... this almost sounds to easy. I simply let them know I would like to inquire about mileage reimbursement for our weekly appointments?

Yes, first call 1-877-503-1261 to speak to a representative. Tell them you're interested in mileage reimbursements and they'll let you know what things they need from you first. They will need to know dates of the appointments and their frequency. There will be some paperwork you'll need to fill out and they'll need copies of your driver's license and insurance for car. Once that is all in they can start reimbursing you. It really is quite simple and they are very nice to work with. I hope that helps. Thanks for your comment.

I tried sending the article but not sure if it went through, so I'm sending the website.

I'm gonna pray for your family and I hope this gives you some solace in knowing there is hope.

I was so moved when I saw your video. It was so beautifully done and edited. I feel your helplessnes, but I also can see the joy this young girl has as she is surrounded by so many loving souls. That part really made me smile. Hang in there, so many, many people are working on the cure, Some drug companies may even ask the FDA for "compassionate use"of the drug if they have evidence it is helping significantly before the end of the study. You can email me, Lindsey, if you have questions. I'd be happy to help you if I can
